Camping - March 2008
It was spring break and we wanted to go camping. It had snowed down to 5000 feet on Mt. Lemmon and the highway was closed. That would not work. We decided on Catalina State Park. It is only about 3 miles from Amy's house but still a nice spot. We got there in the afternoon and pitched our tent. Then we went for a 3 mile hike up into the mountains to some pools in the creek. The desert is so beautiful this time of year.
That evening we roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. Then we bundled up for what was sure to be a cold night. Nick and Craig get the air mattresses and the girls have a thick layer of sleeping bags and blankets. The girls have a lot of stuffed animals to keep them warm as well.
No one complained of the cold. We were all well bundled. It was a beautiful night with a full moon. The next morning there was frost everywhere and our pan of water was frozen solid. The temperature must have dropped to the mid 20's.
For breakfast Amy was in charge of the pancakes. Sam and Nick helped cook. We had hot chocolate and tea.
It was another successful camping trip.
