Jan and I have literally made over 100 trips to northern California over the years to visit Jan's parents. We fly, traffic permitting, through Los Angeles. We have always wanted to spend some time seeing the sites in that city. We have been to the Rose Bowl Parade three times and have seen other sites but it has been along time. With me back on two feet and a new car in the garage we took off for a week.

We left on Amy 11th around noon and drove to Alpine California. We stayed at the Ayers Motel. It is a place I have stayed a couple of times on the motorcycles. We had a good Mexican Dinner

The next morning we drove into San Diego. We had reservations at a Four Sisters B&B called 1906 in Coronado. As the room would not be available until around 3:00 we stopped at Old Town. They have really done a nice job restoring it. There are many restaurants and tourist stores.

We spent the next day just driving and walking around Coronado. We drove south 10 miles along the strand for lunch in Imperial Beach. We walked the beach there. Jan found a lot of shells.

Then we drove over the bridge to Coronado. I love this bridge. It is very high for the large ships to go under and there is not structure above the road surface. On a motorcycle or a convertible you can see the water on both sides with all the ships. You also get a good view of downtown and the entire Coronado Island. It was a beautiful day. We went for a walk to the Del Coronado Hotel and then to our B&B. We also walked around the Del. We had stayed there in the past.

The B7B dates back to 1906 and was completely restored about 10 years ago. We had a nice room in the original building.
