BMW MOA motorcycle rally in Salt Lake City
The BMW MOA is a national BMW motorcycle club of around 50,000 members. The club I am the leader of, SEAT, is a chapter of that national club. Each year the national club puts on a rally somewhere in the United States. This year they picked Salt Lake City. About 5000 BMW motorcycles attended. 25 riders from our club made the ride to the rally.
We drove the first day from Tucson to Kanab. We stay off the freeway as much as possible. That is a 500 mile day. The second day we took a route through some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. We go up US89, take UT12 through Escalante to Torry. Then highway 10 north to Huntington and over UT31 to Fairview. The ride over the mountain is one of the best motorcycle roads in the country. Then up US 89 to US6 and then 80 miles up Interstate 15 to SLC. It was 100 degrees and heavy stop and go traffic. That last hour was not fun.
Thursday night I went to visit my old childhood friend Scott Bringhurst and his wife Judi. It was great seeing them.
I spent little time at the rally Friday or Saturday. I rode 360 miles in the mountains around SLC. I visited Andy and Carol Fiore who are vacationing in Park City. Friday might I spent with my sister Leah and her husband Allen.
Sunday I drove all the way home the long way through Payson and Globe staying off the freeway as much as possible. 840 miles. I was home at 7:30. I love riding like that and it was fun riding alone.
